Enzo Mari is one of the masters of contemporary and modern Italian Design. He was born in Novara in 1932 and now lives in Milan. He was first moved to train as an artist. His work ranges from (industrial) design to painting, from graphics to installation design. His characteristic style with its minimal forms and consistent use of materials is considered fundamental to the history of Italian design. Mari worked with Danese Milano during a strong period of growth for the company and this allowed him to experiment with techniques, create installations, sculptures and products that became true milestones in the history of Italian design. This little blue sugar box is a strong example.
