Chapter 04

Walls are the most solid part to our surroundings. Their blank and smooth surfaces are a quiet backdrop for our daily lives.  These paintings are far from quiet. They catch your eye and lure you into a world of movement. These idiosyncratic paintings and lithographs are created with distinctive swirls, scribbles, and hatch marks.  You can almost hear the artists hitting the canvas with powerful strokes.

The French-German artist Hans Hartung once stated:
“The first and most important thing is to remain free, free in each line you undertake, in your ideas and in your political action, in your moral conduct. The artist especially must remain free from all outer restraints. Your eye’s follow the gestures on the canvas,  no clear meaning , just thought ideas and emotions.”

WILD WALLS is an ode to the moving hand of the artist.
